TSAC 50th Anniversary Quiz Night

TSAC 50th Anniversary Quiz Night

To continue our celebrations of our 50th anniversary we held an anniversary quiz at our club, The John Alker.

It was great to have 30 people attend including new and long standing club members and it was also great to have some prospective club members attend. Thanks must go to Alf and the trainees for bringing the evenings lecture forward so that people could attend. As it was DO’s shout night we extended the DO’s first drink to everyone attending the quiz, this ended up with a bar bill for the club of £97, but it was worth it.

The quiz had a theme of Scuba diving and 50 years for most of the questions, starting with two photo rounds of famous divers and what piece of scuba kit?

To help the evening flow smoothly the evening had breaks for drinks and spot prize competitions (to allow marking to take place).

Quiz rounds

  1. Photo round – famous divers
  2. Photo round – What piece of scuba equipment?
  3. 1973 events
  4. Scuba knowledge
  5. Music
  6. General knowledge

Apart from a slight hitch with the music round, sorted out by Connor from the John Alker team, the quiz continue until just gone ten with The Little Mermaids coming out top of the pile and winning first prize (John Alker drinks tokens).

The Little Mermaids, overall quiz night winners

In all there were 6 teams, listed below in order of final scores and prizes

  • The Little Mermaids – Overall winners and best name
  • Megalodons – Music champions
  • Out of the Abyss – Photograph round winners
  • Nudiurchin – Spot prize winners
  • Unfathomables – Double spot prize winners
  • Liquidity, Fecundity, Drinkability – Tried their best, mentioned in dispatches

Thanks to all who attended the evening, we will hold a second one later in the year (theme to be decided).

I have always loved the sea and diving gives me that little bit of extra special interaction. I love diving anywhere and always find sites interesting and an exhilarating activity, constantly enhancing and improving my skills and knowledge. My favourite diving has to be around the British Isles and in particular St Abbs. It has everything, the sea life, the socialising, the history and the thrill. TSAC has opened up many areas and opportunities for me and hopefully will continue to do so in the future. Here’s to the next adventure.
