Tenerife
A late call for some winter sun and a couple of dives meant a return to Tenerife and TravelSub dive centre.
It’s a short flight and then transfer to the hotel and then ten minutes later we were at the Travelsub, the dive centr, and getting ready for an afternoons check dive on a favourite site, Pal Mar wall. nty of marine life. The highlight of the dive was a six foot albino Angel Shark.
The second day we headed out for two dives. There marine life was not as abundant, but they still were interesting dives, Particularly the second as the sea was beginning to pick up due to the incoming storm. The entry was fine but getting out was a bit more tricky with the swell starting to pick up.

Sadly the next two days were blown out so replanning was needed. What better than a trip to ggs, the bar in which Lewis’s mum works. A five mile walk later and we were sitting having a beer at ggs but no mum.
Our final day dawned and definitely no diving, rough seas and a large swell was preventing most boats getting out of the harbour. It seemed an opportune moment to visit the island. Car hire in Tenerife is remarkably straight forward and within an hour we were heading off to Los Gigantos and the North of the island. The south is geared up to tourism, plenty of restaurants and hotels, the north is a huge contrast with quiet villages, spectacular driving and quiet villages.
Arriving at Garachio we stopped for lunch and were directed round the houses avoiding the storm lashed, closed main road. Even our journey back was diverted due to the storm and snow closing the central mountain roads.

While we only got a bit of diving in, the week was a good break and the bad weather gives us an excuse to return and do some more dives.
