Tenerife
A few days of freedom so where better than Tenerife for some chilled out diving.
Looking at the weather reports prior to the trip it didn’t look too promising, high winds and low temperatures, definitely not what was wanted. We set off with fingers crossed stopping at the usual airport hostelry for a few pre-flight brews.

The usual G&T on the plane in order to prepare us for the worst. On landing we had the pleasant surprise of clear skies, a breeze and a temperature of 23 degrees.
The next day dawned and we headed for the dive centre, usefully only 10 minutes walk from the hotel, in bright sunshine and no wind.
Travelsub is based down by the main port and it was great to return and see the staff again, they are a busy dive centre but are relaxed and always willing to have a chat and to make people feel welcome.
We had three days of diving ahead of us, the weather had calmed down and the sun had arrived. Diving is a simple process at Travelsub, you get your kit together, have a briefing, walk to the boat and attach your BCD to the cylinder, travel out, dive and come back. Dive two repeat the process.
Our first dives were at the Pal Mar caves, followed by Pal Mar wall. These are probably the ‘go too’ dives of the centre, and understandably so. The sites are full of life from large schools of fish, big rays and angel sharks down to stunning nudibranchs, cuttle fish and a variety of unusual corals hidden away at the back of small caves.

The dives, again, follow a process. enter the water, wait for the guide, descend and then follow them, at the end we all exit together. What makes the dives so good is that the dive guides are keen to find marine life and point out a few octopus, and corals that are tucked away in unexpected locations. They all want to provide a memorable experience.
The next day we had a taste of metal and dived on the Meridian wreck, Desposito wreck and then back for a couple more dives around the Pal Mar area.
All in all a good break and six chilled out interesting dives, time for a TSAC club trip.
