At the start of the year we were informed that the John Alker was no longer going to be open, hopefully reopening in the near future. We were therefore without a storage area and without a club house.
The committee started searching for a new location so began trips to local pubs and looking at golf courses, cricket clubs social clubs etc. Unfortunately no where provided exactly what was needed until Melissa phoned up our original location, Urmston cricket club, now known as Urmston Sports Club.
After a few months of meetings and discussions we agreed a membership deal but still needed somewhere to store kit. While the club house gave us a bar, a committee room, training rooms and social areas we were still struggling with somewhere to store our kit.
Several solutions were suggested but none suited and the need to bring the kit together was highlighted by problems of providing equipment for the pool sessions and having to make last minute phone calls to members to ensure trainees had kit.
In the end Urmston Sports Club provided the solution. The club has an area set aside for the groundsmen that was full of stored kit. Simon from the committee agreed to allow us to park a new storage container in a corner and so the last part of our move to a new club house was completed, thanks to Alf finding a us a brand new container.
On the 5th of October our container was set in place and we our first social took place on the 7th of October, a new chapter in the TSAC clubs history.
