The annual Easter dive trip rolled around with Richard taking over from Anne as the organiser, his report is below.

As you know the long Easter weekend is usually a good opportunity to venture out of the Sound and spend some time around the small Isles….weather dependent of course. Well the weather beat us this time with very strong South Westerlies and Tobermory was as far as we got. However, we still got in some good dives on the usual suspects, but nothing that stood out as exceptional!

Started with the Rondo, flat calm and pretty good viz. A couple of gentle drift dives around Calve Island and a scenic wall at  Auliston Point. We went looking for a small wreck, the Tonn Vane, and thought the shot was on it, but nobody could locate the wreck and viz was down to a couple of metres which obviously didn’t help.

Thanks to skipper Bob hitting slack perfectly and the viz being great (in SoM terms) we had a great dive on the Hispania. The Shuna was okay but had a bit of current running on it, and then finished off with a scallop dive in Lochaline.

7 degrees in the water, but absolutely freezing on deck with sleet, hailstones and horizontal rain in bitterly cold winds. As always, the company was wonderful and we had a great weekend.

I have always loved the sea and diving gives me that little bit of extra special interaction. I love diving anywhere and always find sites interesting and an exhilarating activity, constantly enhancing and improving my skills and knowledge. My favourite diving has to be around the British Isles and in particular St Abbs. It has everything, the sea life, the socialising, the history and the thrill. TSAC has opened up many areas and opportunities for me and hopefully will continue to do so in the future. Here’s to the next adventure.
