GoDiving 2024

GoDiving 2024

The clubs annual trip to the GoDiving show, at NEAC Stonleigh, saw nine of the club heading down the M6 in a selection of cars. Sadly our usual form of transport Paula’s school minibus has been damaged so we had to split up into cars. We all made our rendezvous in the cafe and sat down for a chat and a sausage butty.

Several of the club had definite objectives, Lisa & Joe (Our new TO team) and Alf (our DO) wanted to pick the brains of the BSAC team about courses, development and potential alternative activity opportunities. Ray was having a suit refitted. The rest of us came to look, catch up with friends and see if there was anything new and shiny that caught our eye.

The show was great, each year it has improved and got larger and has a greater variety of stalls.

We investigated some new places to dive, potentially looking at a boat trip in Ireland and using Wreckspeditions.

It was great to chat to some of the environmental groups and to see the selection of speakers, Monty Halls drew some of our team and he, as always, proved to be an engaging and interesting speaker.

There were some good artists and gift stalls included this year and several of our club (including our chair) left with art work with which to adorn their houses.

A useful trip and a much improved dive show meant that future planning for training, trips and social events could take new directions.

Next stop a return to the Paris dive show in 2025.

I have always loved the sea and diving gives me that little bit of extra special interaction. I love diving anywhere and always find sites interesting and an exhilarating activity, constantly enhancing and improving my skills and knowledge. My favourite diving has to be around the British Isles and in particular St Abbs. It has everything, the sea life, the socialising, the history and the thrill. TSAC has opened up many areas and opportunities for me and hopefully will continue to do so in the future. Here’s to the next adventure.
